Step 1 — Register

Make sure you're registered.

California mails a ballot to every active registered voter automatically — but only if you're registered at your current address. Two minutes online is all it takes.

Not registered yet?

Register online with the California Secretary of State. You'll need your driver's license, state ID, or the last four digits of your SSN.

Already registered?

Confirm your status, address, and party preference. If you've moved recently, you probably need to re-register at your new address.

Check my registration

Who can register?

  • You're a U.S. citizen
  • You'll be at least 18 years old by Election Day (June 2, 2026)
  • You live in California (and Los Angeles for the LA mayoral race)
  • You're not currently in state or federal prison for a felony conviction

Missed the deadline?

You can still vote. California offers same-day voter registration at any LA County vote center, including on Election Day. You'll cast a conditional ballot that's counted once your registration is verified.
